NWPL: Sunhine Queens, Osun Babes top table

Sunshine Queens and Osun Babes resumed the Maiden edition of the Nigeria Women Premier League by recording wins on Match day 1 of the season.
Ganiyat Adeleke put Osun Babes in front as early as the third minute as they beat Ibom Angels 2-1, thereby making her goal the fastest in the new season while Seyi scored the second to deny Ibom any points. The Babes from Osogbo now occupy second place as Sunshine Queens are first on the log after beating champions of the 2013 Women Pro League, Nasarawa Amazons 3-1.
In other matches decided on Saturday across five centres, Delta Queens and Rivers Angels had to settle for a 1-1 draw in Oleh Delta state. The Federation Cup champions Rivers Angels were the first to score through Ugo Njoku but the Queens equalised in the 45th minute through Ngozi Okobi.
Inneh Queens were also held to a 1-1 draw in Benin by Taraba Queens while Bayelsa Queens played a goalless draw with Kogi based side Confluence Queens in Yenagoa.
The encounter between Adamawa Queens and Pelican Stars was postponed. Speaking before the match, coach of the Calabar based side Adat Egan explained that they could not guarantee the safety of the team due to the Boko Haram insurgent in the North East of the country and decided to have the match postponed.
