Egwuekwe Joins Libyan Al Nasr On One-Year Deal







Fomer Nigerian defender Azubuike Egwuekwe has joined Libyan League club side Al Nasr, after passing his medical with flying colours on sunday, NaijaSportsPlanet reports.




The 29-year-old  lanky defender signed a one-year deal with Libyan championship side from South African club side Super Sports United FC.


The contract signed by Egwuekwe includes an option for an additional season; both the club and player have to agree before that clause is activated in 2019.

The Nigeria international had attracted interest from unnamed clubs in Azerbaijan and Kuwaiti team Qadsia SC before accepting to join Al Nasr.

"I am happy to join a great club. I am delighted and my target is to do well with the team, help my new club win more laurels,” Egwuekwe stated.

Egwuekwe has 22 national caps for Nigeria and was part of their 2013 Afcon winning squad.

Egwuekwe also feature at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and represented the Super Eagles at the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup.
