Man Utd and Man City are set to do battle over a €50m Germany midfielder this summer, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants Arsenal to spend €100m on one man this summer, according to Wednesday’s European papers.
DORTMUND MAKE PLANS TO REPLACE WEIGL
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly willing to let in-demand midfielder Julian Weigl move on this summer.
The Bundesliga side are seemingly set to spark a summer transfer scramble for the midfielder after lining up a deal for a potential successor in their midfield.
Reports in Calciomercato suggest Dortmund are weighing up a swoop for Lyon defensive midfielder Lucas Tousart – a man seen as his direct replacement – with Weigl likely to be in the clear to move on as a result.
Weigl, who joined Dortmund from 1860 Munich in the summer of 2015, has already attracted the attention of Manchester City, while Manchester United are also reported to be keen.
Weigl faces a fight to win a place in Germany’s World Cup squad and it is thought he will look to move to the Premier League this summer if he misses out and in a bid to raise his profile.
A fee of €50million has been suggested and both Manchester clubs are certain to be keen if it becomes apparent BVB will sell.
MOURINHO ALERTED BY PSG’S PLANNED SWOOP FOR JUVENTUS STAR
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will rival any PSG approach for Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport claims that the French giants are ready to offer the Bosnian a five-year deal worth €8m-a-season, double what he currently earns in Turin.
The journal also claims that they could allow the 27-year-old Bosnian to leave for around €50million – news which is sure to alert Mourinho.
The United boss is keen to strengthen his midfield options this summer and would certainly be interested in the former Roma star if he was to be made available;
The report does, however, seem surprising given Pjanic is one of the key players in Max Allgeri’s side, though their interest in landing Lazio’s Sergej Milkinkovic-Savic could be one possible explanation.
