The game started very well for the Nigerian
side, as in the 12th minute Musa Najare scored the opener, assisted by
Stanley Dimgba.
The goal clearly upset Union, as they rushed forward and restored draw
three minutes later, thanks to Patrick Ngoula Ngoula.
In the 30th minute Wolves received a major morale boost, when Okiemute
Odah saved penalty taken by Union's skipper Djengue Moundi. And it took
them only five minutes to lead in the game again, this time thanks to
Oghenekaro Etebo, whose volley found its way into the net.
The Cameroonian side fought bravely and drew level ten minutes before
the end, when Ivan Mengaptone headed the ball in, following a corner
kick.
But home players and fans barely stopped celebrating the equaliser, when
Ikechukwu Ibenegbu blasted a screamer from 30 yards past Ande Derick
Fru, securing a vital win for Wolves.
Second leg will be played next week in Warri. On Friday Bayelsa United
held FC Kondzo to a goalless draw in Congo.
