Management of Akwa United FC have shown the exit door for 9 of their players in a bid to reposition the club ahead of the 2018-2019 Nigeria Professional Football League Season, NaijaSportsPlanet reports.
The identity of the affected players have not been revealed but an official of the club said the players are those that failed to justify the confidence reposed in them so they must make space for more committed and serious players to come in.
The source said the state government is not happy with the not too impressive outing of the Promise Keepers last season and therefore tasked club management to ensure the team is back to reckoning next season.
“We are already taking steps to see positive changes in the team ahead of next season and the first move is to weed out the unproductive players from the team for fresh legs to come in” he said.
Meanwhile the club Chairman, Elder Paul Bassey disclosed that a new manager will be unveiled to the public on Monday.
