Angels Beat Queens In Nigeria Women’s League

 

 


Nigeria female leagueAn Ngozi Ebere–inspired performance propelled Rivers Angels to a convincing 2-0 home win over Adamawa Queens in Week 4 of the Nigeria Premier Women’s League, NPWL on Saturday.
Ngozi Ebere put Rivers Angels ahead from 25 yards after Adamawa Queens conceded a free kick in the 53rd minute.
In the 77th minute, Ngozi Ebere took aanother free kick from 25 yards same spot she got the first goal. But a goal keeping error from Adamawa Queens goalkeeper, Julian Duru, allowed Lola Philips to let in the second goal as she was left unmarked in the 18 yard box.
Rivers Angels dominated the match for large period but struggled to find a way past the Adamawa Queens defense as the away team frustrated Rivers Angels from creating more goal scoring chances.
Second goal scorer, Lola Philips was happy she scored her first goal of the season. “I wanted to score more but not much scoring chances were created but am happy with the goal I scored”.
Assistant coach of Rivers Angels, White Abunda, said after the game that he was happy with their performance.
“I feel happy despite the fact that we missed goal scoring chances because I expected the goals to be at least four goals but I am happy we were able to win in the end”.
“The league is still on, this is just the fourth match of the first round. In the next two or three matches we will take our rightful position on the league table, White said”.
Technical adviser of Adamawa Queens, Sabu Musa Ata said he lost to a better side.
“Adamawa is a very far place, fatigue affected my players and I lost to a better side because they are one of the best team in the country”. “The officiating was fair and it was a good game, Sabu said”.
